Kids Time Trial Series
Kids Time Trial Series
When: Wednesdays April 15 and 29, May 13 and 27, 4:00 p.m.
Where: Hillandale Park, Harrisonburg, Virginia
What: A time trail series for kids ages. Riders will be timed through prescribed courses that match their individual skill level. Each week kids will have an opportunity to ride the course a few times, with their best times recorded for the series.
What can I ride? You’re welcome to bring the bike you normally ride, but the trails are best suited for mountain-style bicycles with bigger tires meant to handle dirt, mud and rocks.
What to Bring? Bring a helmet and your bike. Eye protection, gloves and body protection are recommended, but not mandatory. Helmets are required. Loaner helmets will be provided by SVBC.
So is this a race? In a way yes, but you compete against yourself and the clock! Your time around the course sets the base time for that week; you can keep your time or you can choose to try up to two more times to better it. At the end of the series, the riders with best combined time for their particular age group and gender will be the champions of the series. The series is expected to be a lot of fun, and the best part is you can choose to ride with a parent to help you.
Will I be challenged? Yes! Hillandale has different styles of trails for all ages and experience levels. The goal is always to have a challenging and safe environment that promotes having fun on bikes.
Is there a charge? No! This is a free service provided by SVBC and supported by Harrisonburg City Parks and Recreation. The events are staffed entirely by volunteers.
So, what’s stopping me? Nothing! This will be a great series with lots of kids, c'mon out and ride, and most of all have fun. See you there!
